A "renewal" is an extension of the original copyright. It couldn't be renewed if it was never copyrighted in the first place. There are many works that haven't been released on DVD, due to things such as lack of interest or lack of a quality print. What is it you are thinking of uploading? Are there any notices in the closing acknowledgements regarding copyrights?

It's a soap opera from the 60's, which may explain why it's never been released on DVD. I've yet to come across any copies, But I do know the entire run still exists. It's called "Days of Our Lives", and I checked the US copyright website.

I Know that! I'm asking about the 60's episodes.

No US work from 1964-on needs to be renewed. Renewal was only required to maintain copyright protection for works through 1963. I am certain Days of Their Lives is protected by copyright.
